Finalists Announced for 2006 Best Places to Work in Maine

PORTLAND (August 4, 2006) – The finalists for the 2006 Best Places to Work in Maine have been announced. [Note:  The complete list of finalists (not in ranking order) are at the end of this release.]

The rankings for the 2006 Best Places to Work in Maine will be announced at an awards dinner at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2006, at the Augusta Civic Center. The event’s master of ceremonies will be Don Doele, assisted by Ed Anderson, Ed McKersie, and Richelle Wallace. Event tickets and corporate tables can be purchased at http://meshrm.shrm.org.

The Best Places to Work in Maine program was designed to:
*   Honor companies in Maine that show dedication to their employees’ growth and quality of life;
*   Develop definitive information to help existing companies in Maine retain their workforce;
*   Promote Maine’s best employment opportunities to attract new workers;
and distinguish businesses in Maine that attract and retain Maine’s talented workforce.

The competition recognizes companies in two different categories: medium-sized companies (25-199 employees) and large-sized employers (200 employees or more). One additional company has received an honorable mention as a small company (15-24 employees).

The Best Places to Work in Maine program is a collaborative effort among its many partners, which include Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM)-Maine State Council, Employment Times, Mainebiz, JobsInME.com, the Maine State Chamber, The Maine State Department of Labor, and Best Companies Group.

Any company with at least 15 employees in Maine was eligible to participate in the program. All registered companies were then surveyed by a professional research firm, Modern Think, LLC, who analyzed the results of employer and employee questionnaires to determine the companies that were “the Best Places to Work in Maine.” All companies surveyed will receive a detailed findings report that shows how they ranked compared with other companies.

Listings of the finalists from both the medium-sized and large-sized companies, arranged alphabetically, are included with this release. Company ranking in each category will be announced at the September 21, 2006, award dinner.
